- Discovery:
Project Interview
A company Principal meets with you in your home or business to discuss the extent of work required for
your project, possible design ideas, your budget, and a construction timeframe. We ask you to share with us any plans, diagrams,
ideas, photos or sketches of your likes and dislikes. During the course of our first meeting, you will be presented with
a Conceptual Design Authorization to begin the design process.
- Define & Document:
After the Conceptual
Design Authorization is signed, an in-house Principal is assigned specifically to your project—this is typically the same
person who attends your Discovery Meeting. This phase of the work is required to determine all of the legal, physical and
natural parameters of your project and site. It will be necessary for you to obtain a complete survey including property
lines, setbacks, easements, topography and trees. We will further explore your needs and priorities and take photos of the
site and measurements for our use.
- Describe & Display:
B Environmental Studio will schedule two meetings.
The first will be used to present 2 or 3 sketch-level design ideas and thoughts that fit within your project parameters. We
will describe the merits of each design option and will review each option to determine which ideas meet your approval and
fit within your budget. After noting your specific comments to the ideas and gaining a sharper focus of your vision, it may
be necessary for us to meet a second time to present the final Conceptual solutions.
- Design & Develop:
Upon
accepting a final Conceptual solution, we ask our clients to sign a Design Services contract. This phase develops the conceptual
plan three-dimensionally, including details, finishes, fixtures, and lighting. We begin discussing the material and product
options that are appropriate to your project. This will enable your project to be estimated, bid and built. We will continue
to fine tune your chosen solution using environmentally superior detailing.
- Details & Drawings:
B Environmental
Studio develops the design solution into Construction Drawings and Material Specifications for your approval. The necessary
permits, variances, engineering reports, certificates of appropriateness, and other possible legal requirements are handled
in this phase. We can help you locate qualified contractors in your area so you may request bid proposals.
- Delivery:
Final
Construction Documents are delivered to you with copies for your contractors. Once the project has been released for bidding
purposes and for construction, contractors can begin working as soon as you hire one with whom you feel comfortable. This
is the completion of the drawing phase.
